Are you an adult with severe asthma who plans to have bronchial thermoplasty treatment? This study is using a new imaging technique, called optical coherence tomography, to examine the airways in people with asthma before and after a treatment called bronchial thermoplasty. This treatment is minimally invasive and reduces asthma symptoms by using heat to shrink smooth muscle within the lungs. To participate in this survey, you must be between 18 and 60 years old. This study takes place in Boston, Massachusetts.

Are you an adult currently being treated for rhinosinusitis (nasal inflammation) who would like to support research into the condition? This study is collecting blood, secretion, and tissue samples from people undergoing procedures to treat long-term rhinosinusitis. Rhinosinusitis, another term for nasal inflammation, is common in people who have asthma. To participate in this study, you must be between 18 and 80 years old. Are you an adult who has participated in one or more HIV Lung Research Group studies and would like to support better treatment options for people living with HIV and COPD? This study aims to find out whether microbes in the lungs or gut raise the risk of COPD in people living with HIV. Results from this study will help improve COPD treatment options in the HIV+ population. To participate in this study, you must be 18 to 80 years old. This study aims to find out whether a method called Comprehensive Health Informatics Engagement Framework for Pulmonary Rehabilitation can help people who have COPD stick to their treatment plan. Are you a 30- to 55-year-old smoker or non-smoker who would like to support better understanding of COPD risk factors? This study aims to find early signs of COPD in adults who have a high risk of this condition. Researchers will compare results from questionnaires, lung tests, and other tests in people who smoke and in people who do not smoke to look for factors that predict which people will develop COPD. To participate in this study, you must either currently smoke or have no history of smoking. This study takes place in multiple locations in the United States.

Have you or your child been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, and would you like to support better diagnosis of lung infections? This study is exploring new ways to diagnose bacterial lung infections in people who have cystic fibrosis. The study will test whether analyzing a participant’s breath and sputum samples can help diagnose infections. Participants in this study must be at least 3 years old. Are you an adult diagnosed with cystic fibrosis who would like to help test web-based educational resources designed to inform and prepare patients to make decisions about lung transplantation? This study will determine if it is feasible for study participants to complete use of an assigned web-based educational program, and evaluate whether providing certain educational resources leaves participants more prepared to make future treatment decisions involving lung transplantation with their health care provider(s). To participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years old. This study takes place in Seattle, Washington.
