The concept of a sanctuary for seriously ill children and their families was fully realized with the groundbreaking of the Children's Inn on the NIH campus in 1988. Since it's opening in June of 1990 the Inn has provided a place of warmth and solidarity to these little patients and their families. A new wing opened in 2004 adding 22 more rooms and public spaces for pediatric outpatients and their families. (see the NIH Record). Below are some photos of the interior lobby and the exterior.
